Robert "Bob" J. Alford, age 85, a resident of Wyndemere in Wheaton, IL, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 of Parkinson's Disease.  He was born July 15, 1937 in Normal, Illinois to Joseph and Mabel Alford.

Bob was a graduate of El Paso, Illinois Community High School.  Prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961, he was employed as a farmer by the Roy Hodel family. He served in Germany during the Vietnam Era and was discharged from active duty in April of 1964. Bob married Judy Skarecky on October 3, 1964 and moved to Cary, Illinois where he worked for Seaquist Perfect Dispensing as a mechanic, supervisor and then lab technician. He retired in 2000 after over 30 years.

His Christian faith was important to him and he was actively involved in multiple churches over the years, including Cary United Methodist Church, Castalia Lutheran Church and Hawkeye United Methodist Church both in Iowa. He was also involved with Walk to Emmaus and mission trips. Bob volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and P.A.D.S. and, with his wife, helped to start the Greater Area Food Pantry in Calmar, Iowa. He was also a member of the American Legion and was awarded for his generous blood donations.

Bob enjoyed feeding birds, farming and riding tractors. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed music and played the saxophone in his younger years. He enjoyed card games, playing Cribbage with friends at Wyndemere and playing Uno with his grandchildren. Bob loved to tease his kids and grandkids and was quick to smile with anyone. In retirement he became an avid reader and enjoyed tv westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Alford, his daughter, Dawn (Jim) Eaton, four grandchildren, Chelsea, Megan, Danny and Matthew, his sister, Mignonette Wise and multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tod Alford, his parents and his brother, Harold Alford.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Wyndemere Auditorium, 200 Wyndemere Circle, Wheaton, IL 60187.  Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m.
