Roslyn
Albright
September 6, 1959 – November 11, 2023
Roslyn Joy (Fulford) Albright passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Roslyn was born to delighted parents Jim and Gloria Fulford on September 6, 1959, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. As she grew and three younger siblings joined the family, Ros lived up to her middle name, spreading joy to everyone around her.
As a young girl, Roslyn surrendered her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. At the age of 12, she publicly declared her calling to be His missionary wherever He would send her. During Ros's high school years in Owen Sound, Ontario, her summers found her in various South American countries "getting dirty for God" with Teen Missions. She discovered her love of languages during those summers, and an interest in Bible translation took root in her heart.
After graduating from high school, she squeezed four years into three at Toccoa Falls College in Georgia, studying missions and earning a B.A. in Missiology. During her summers, she completed her linguistic studies with Wycliffe's Summer Institute of Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma. While preparing to go to Papua New Guinea as a Bible translator, she was asked by a local reporter whether she was concerned about going so far away from civilization. How would she find a husband in the jungles of Papua New Guinea? Roslyn answered, "If God wants me to have a husband, He'll give me a husband!"
As it happened, she met a missionary pilot in Papua New Guinea. The couple fell in love, and Roslyn married Dick Albright on June 11, 1983, in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. The two served the Lord together briefly in Papua New Guinea and then in the Philippines for the next 21 years where Roslyn could be found assisting the mission work as mail clerk, cashier, market van driver, school teacher, and educational therapist. The Lord Jesus blessed Dick and Ros with five wonderful children: Jim (Michelle), Dan (Hannah), Stephen, Bethany, and David. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Roslyn later in her life knew that her nine grandchildren were her joy and delight.
Roslyn was an avid memorizer of Scripture, including entire books of the Bible, encouraging her family, students, and everyone around her to do the same.
In recent years, Roslyn and Dick made their home in Winfield and then Carol Stream, Illinois, where Roslyn faithfully served family, friends, neighbors, and her church family. She worked as an educational therapist at Wheaton Academy and out of her home, and was a Women's Bible Study leader at College Church in Wheaton. She continued to practice hospitality until succumbing to a rare degenerative brain disease which has now ushered her into her Lord's embrace. There she joins her mother and that great multitude from all those tribes and languages and peoples she loved so much, singing, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing." (Rev 5:12)
Roslyn is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dick; her five children, Jim (Michelle), Dan (Hannah), Stephen, Bethany, and David, nine grandchildren, her father, Jim Fulford, her sister, Marilyn (James) Caple, her two brothers, Jim (Jenn) Fulford and Tom (Corina) Fulford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
