IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Wesley
Killian
December 16, 1928 – April 23, 2022
Paul Wesley Killian, age 93, a resident of St. Charles, IL, former resident of Dixon, IL, and longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.
Paul was born December 16,1928, in Montgomery, IL, the ninth of twelve children. Growing up in a large family during the Great Depression, Paul worked at Lyon Metal Products while attending West Aurora High School.
Paul attended both Greenville College (now Greenville University) and Aurora University; he graduated from Greenville in 1953. Paul then served in the Army as a Military Intelligence Specialist from 1954-1956. His military records indicate he was selected for this position due to his honesty, integrity, and other qualities essential for the role.
Paul worked as a sales representative for, and later became owner of, Killian Corporation, an office furnishing and design firm started by his older brother, Ralph. Paul's easy-going nature, rigorous work ethic, honesty, and integrity led to a successful career and long-term friendships with his co-workers and clients.
Faith in Jesus was an essential element of Paul's life as an individual, husband, and father. He met his wife, Jan, in the "TNT" (Twenties 'N Thirties) singles class he started at Wheaton Bible Church; they married on June 30, 1962. Paul served for many years at Wheaton Bible Church, Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, the Wheaton Free Methodist Church, and Lost Lake Community Church. Paul's servant heart was ever-evident in the giving of his time, talents and resources as a member of the Greater Chicago Sunday School Association (GCSSA), and to numerous other organizations, families, and individuals over the years.
As a father, Paul was dedicated, present, and beloved by his four children, of whom he continuously communicated that he loved and was very proud.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence (Yates) Killian; his brothers and sisters, Harold, Donald, Harry, Ralph, Irwin, Virginia, Lucille, Glenn, Marilyn, Geraldine and Bernadette; and his beloved wife, Jan (Darby).
Paul is survived by his four children, Scott (Angela) Killian of Winfield, Kathy (Tim) Buhrt of Aurora, Kim Onufrock of Wayne, and Jim (Heather) Killian of Jellico, TN; nine grandchildren, Bethany (Dan) Opdyke, Wesley (Jenny) Killian, Stephen Buhrt, Matthew Buhrt, Audrey Onufrock, Lauren Onufrock, Bryan Killian, Katherine Killian, and Jason Killian; and two great-grandchildren, Felicity Opdyke, and Peter Opdyke.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Lost Lake Community Church, 90 W Flagg Rd, Dixon, IL 61021. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wayside Cross Ministries , 215 E. New York St., Aurora, IL 60506.
