Dr. E. Paul Gieser, age 90, a resident of Covenant Living community in Carol Stream, Illinois, and formerly a longtime resident of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, surrounded by his family at home.

He was born in Hereford, Texas, to Elmer Paul Sr. and Caroline Gieser. The family later moved to Ishpeming, Michigan, where Paul grew up.  After high school, Paul attended Northern Michigan College and later graduated from optometry school in Chicago. He then served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps from 1954 until 1956. After his military service, he then enrolled in medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he graduated and later completed a residency in ophthalmology. As a physician and surgeon, he entered private practice in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he and his wife settled.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, daughters Linn and Julie, son Jon, and 10 grandchildren.

Interment will take place during a private ceremony at Battle Creek Memorial Park in Battle Creek, Michigan.
