Matthew Riva, age 96, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born January 23, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois.
Matthew loved to fish. He was known to take family on fishing trips. He loved to work on cars. He bartended at the family bar and grill and was known as "The Priest". He loved his grandchildren and adored his great-grandchildren!
He is survived by his daughter, Janet (John) Williams of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; his son, Matthew (Linda) Riva of Aurora, Illinois; three grandchildren, Matthew (Janelle) Riva, Patty (Matthew) Sanderson and Betsy Williams; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mackenzie and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla; his brother, Fritz (Lill) Mini; his sister Maye Downie Mini; and his brother-in-law, Darwin (Cathy) Reedy.
A private interment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
