Karen Wright, age 72, a resident of Oak Brook, IL, died May 29, 2022. She was born April 21, 1950 in Brazoria County, Texas to Neal and Lois Parks.

Karen grew up in Alvin, Texas before moving to Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans. She became a Christian as a young girl. She received her B.A. in history from Baylor University and went on to get her masters from the University of Houston in American Church History. She earned a J.D. from Loyola University and an L.L.M. in tax law from DePaul University. She then took a job as a tax attorney with the United States Department of the Treasury.

She married Neil Wright in Houston in 1974. They moved to Illinois in 1980 where they had their daughter Kimberley in 1981 and their son Stuart in 1985. For many years they attended Hinsdale Baptist Church where Karen wrote a series of Bible study guides for a women's Bible study. They later joined College Church in Wheaton and coordinated Veritas Sunday school.

Karen never lost her love of church history and had numerous friends both at Hinsdale Baptist and College Church. In recent years, she spent much her time with her daughter and grandchildren, accompanying them to the arboretum and the zoo. Lukas and Ethan delighted in playing with their grandmother and especially enjoyed several trips to Disney World together.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Neil Wright; her children Kimberley Lindquist and Stuart Wright; her grandchildren Lukas and Ethan Lindquist; and her brothers Grant Parks and Greg Parks.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at College Church, 332 E. Seminary, Wheaton, IL 60187, in the Commons .
