Obituary

Julie Ann Solis (Perl), age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Central DuPage Hospital. She was born on November 8, 1958 in Paulding, OH to Robert and Joann Perl.

Julie grew up in Paulding and graduated from Paulding High School in 1977. After graduating, she joined Agape, a Christian singing and drama group that traveled around the country and proclaimed the gospel through music and acting. She toured with Agape from summer 1977 to May 1978 and again from the fall of 1978 to 1980.

She attended Bob Jones University for one year, then worked as a secretary in the Correspondence Department of Fort Wayne Bible College.

In the summer of 1984, Julie met her future husband, Anthony Solis, at a wedding for a mutual friend in Putnam, IL. They quickly fell in love and became engaged, during which time Julie moved to Montgomery, IL.

They were married on July 3, 1987 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Paulding, OH, the church where Julie grew up. The newlyweds moved to Villa Park, IL in 1987 and attended First Baptist Church of Villa Park. The couple moved to Wheaton, IL in the summer of 1992 when they began attending College Church. Julie loved hearing the powerful Biblical preaching of Pastor Kent Hughes. She joined the church and was a member of the Joint Heirs class.

Julie was a devoted follower of Jesus since age 4. Her unwavering faith strengthened and encouraged her throughout her long 21-month battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She worked part-time for 29 years at Professional Management Associates in Oak Brook, IL.

She loved her kids more than anything in the world, followed closely by Diet Pepsi, true-crime mysteries, Gilmore Girls, crocheting (for other cancer patients) and her two Bichon dogs Princess and Ellie. She leaves behind a rich legacy of faith and family. Her feistiness, smile, and warm demeanor endeared her to all.

Julie is survived by her husband Anthony; two children, Michael Solis of St. Louis, MO and Danielle Solis of Wheaton, IL. She is also survived by two sisters, Cindy (Karl) Koenig of Paulding, OH and Carrie (Edward) Ferrier of Fort Wayne, IN; and her mother, Joann Perl of Paulding OH.

She is survived by Martin Solis (Anthony's father) of Hammond, LA and Anthony's brother Robert (Teris) Solis of Burleson, TX and their children Shelby and Breanne. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her grandparents Rex and Von Adams, Kathryn Solis (Anthony's mother) and Richard Solis (Anthony's brother).
