With deepest sorrow, we announce that Joshua M. Smith, age 33 passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was a resident of Mt. Prospect, IL, and formerly of Bloomingdale. He was born November 16, 1988, in Winfield, Illinois to Mark and Marianne Smith.

He graduated from Taylor University in Upland, IN in 2011. Joshua worked for the last nine years at Honeywell as an Engineering Technician.

Joshua was the first of three sons that brought joy and countless activity into the Smith household.

As a young boy, his imagination and creativity drove his passion for building Lego's, constructing models and playing numerous games. As he grew older, his interests expanded to other areas such as music and even sports.

As an adult he developed an adventurous spirit, had a selfless ability to lead board games and a love for animals which reflected his respect for life.

Then, he met Katie (Kathleen) Rodriguez. The love of his life brought him boundless joy. One could not help but notice how perfect they were for each other. They meshed in games, had similar likes and always knew how to complement each other in their actions.

He is survived by his parents, Mark and Marianne Smith of Bloomingdale; fiancé, Kathleen Rodriguez; brothers Ryan (Laura) Smith  and Tyler Smith; uncles Wayne (Denise) Smith, and Willy (Kelly) Obereiner, aunts Loretta Obereiner, Greta Obereiner, and Doreen Obereiner; and cousins Jason (Kim) Obereiner, Erika (Joshua) Johnson, Adam Obereiner and Aric Obereiner.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorraine Smith, his grandparents, August (Opa) Obereiner, and Greta (Oma) Obereiner; and his uncle Bernie Obereiner.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at Jubilee Bible Church, 900 Foster Avenue, Medinah, IL, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
