Janet W. Rebmann, age 71, a beloved resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, crossing the rainbow bridge into eternal peace. She was born on March 1, 1952, in Chicago, to the loving parents John and Irene Widdows.
Jan's roots were on the south side of Chicago, where she thrived. She received her education at Visitation High School, and later pursued her passion for numbers by studying accounting. She worked as an administrative assistant for Catholic Charities and DuPage Housing Authority, where she made a positive impact. After years of dedicated service, Janet embarked on a well-deserved retirement.
In her retirement years, Janet found her true calling as an advocate for animal welfare. Her heart overflowed with compassion, and she dedicated her life to animal rescue. She took on a leadership role with the House Rabbit Society of Chicago, tirelessly working to improve the lives of countless bunnies. Additionally, she lent her support and expertise to the DuPage Animal Shelter, playing a vital role in finding forever homes for innumerable furry companions.
Beyond her selfless work, Janet found joy in simple pleasures. She had a green thumb and nurtured beautiful gardens that brought life and color to her surroundings. A lover of literature, she found inspiration in the pages of books, always seeking knowledge and expanding her horizons. But her greatest source of happiness was spending cherished moments with her family. Every Sunday was sacred, designated as a day to celebrate family unity and create lasting memories together.
Janet W. Rebmann will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her unwavering dedication to animal rescue and her commitment to making the world a better place will continue to inspire us. May her gentle soul find eternal peace, knowing that her legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Sean Rebmann, two daughters, Samantha (Bill) Archer of Wheaton and Tracy (Jake) Stewart of Carol Stream, and five grandchildren, Sean, Connor, and Abigail Archer and Max and Zach Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John, who died in Vietnam, and Dennis.
