Janet E. Mackoy, age 90, a resident of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Carol Stream, IL, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2020, at McGivney Health Care Center, in Carmel, Indiana.  She was born September 12, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Alfred and Ingeborg Mathwig.

Jan was extremely active up until the final year of her life, and most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, walking, hiking, reading, travelling, watching sports, dancing, and going out to eat.  Her adventurous spirit was always on display, taking her throughout North America, Europe, Korea, and New Zealand.  She valued education, pursuing her Bachelors of Nursing degree and Masters of Counseling degree long after starting her family.  Jan was a registered nurse, a life-long passion of hers, practicing in several states and in Korea; later in life, she worked as a counselor in both a hospital and church setting.  She loved her professions and worked until she was 78 years old. Finally, and perhaps most significantly, she pursued a deep communal and personal relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life.

She is survived by her children, Robert Mackoy (Tina) of Indianapolis, Michael (Robin) of Medina Ohio, Richard of Athens, Greece, Stuart (Lorraine) of Montgomery, Texas, and Laura Alfano (Donald) of Carol Stream, Illinois; by her brother David Mathwig (Orla) of Montgomery, Texas; by her grandchildren, Chris Mackoy, Travis Mackoy, Jenny Landow, Tracy Evans, Richard Mackoy, Caleb Mackoy, and Gianni Alfano; and by her great-grandchildren Riley Landow, Ashlynn Mackoy, and Zev Christopher Mackoy.

A private service for family members will be held on October 31 at 10:30 a.m.; the service will be available for livestream viewing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--XblaAdzHc&feature=youtu.be . Interment will be held at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
