IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold John
Berquist
December 13, 1943 – February 6, 2021
Harold "Harry" Berquist, age 77, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away, on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. He was born December 13, 1943 in Chicago to Harold and Corrine Berquist.
Harry graduated from Quigley Seminary High School and Loyola University. He served in the US Marine Reserves. He married Sally Harney on November 5, 1966. They raised three children in the suburbs of Boston, Chicago and St. Louis, where he worked as a national salesman in the plastics industry. Though he was a natural introvert, he made record sales for every company he ever worked for, even creating enough new business to open additional production plants.
He was a lover of history, the theater and the arts. He enjoyed reading and going to museums and sharing what he learned. While he was not an artist himself, he appreciated and was proud of his mother's and sibling's artistic talents. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family: cheering the kids on in all their activities, coaching, game nights at home, hosting family parties with Sally, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Berquist, three children, John (Rosemary) Berquist, Kathy (Dale) VanLeeuwen and Amy (Drew) Pekkarinen, seven grandchildren, Meg, Anne, Taylor, Gyllian, Preston, Emma and Lizzie, four siblings, Susan (the late John) Christenson, Richard (Gina) Berquist, Carol (the late Roman) Hernandez and Michelle (Tom) Plombon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
