Obituary

Emily Kate Rominski, age 13, went home to heaven on June 13, 2021, surrounded by family. Emily suffered from heart failure, as a result of her condition known as Atypical Progeria Lipodystrophy.

Emily was born on August 14th, 2007, in Winfield, IL to Justin and Kristina Rominski. Emily lived her life full of joy and love. She had a beautiful smile and a caring spirit that was a light to everyone she interacted with. Emily loved everything with a passion, especially her family and friends. Emily's favorite activities were ones that included her family, from playing games to taking walks to doing crafts together. Emily was always eager to help and regularly showered those she loved with big hugs. She enjoyed making the most thoughtful and encouraging hand-made cards. Emily was compassionate and funny and loved a good conversation. She was also strong and courageous and positive. She was a hard-worker and loved to learn. Emily was a treasure, a delight to all that knew her.

Emily accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 4 and held tight to the hope of heaven throughout her life. She participated in Awanas and Pioneer Girls throughout her youth, and was baptized at Parkview Community Church at the age of 8. Emily was not afraid of death, instead she was excited to go to heaven. She once said that she had no desire to travel to beautiful sights on Earth as she knew that heaven would be so much more incredible. Emily is survived by her parents, Justin and Kristina, and her four siblings, Heidi and Anna, Luke and Caleb. She is survived by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Shelley Swanson and paternal grandparents, Bill and Sue Rominski, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Emily will be laid to rest in a private burial next to her maternal grandma, Heidi Swanson, at Garfield Cemetery. A celebration of Emily's life will be held on August 14th at 3:00p.m. at Parkview Community Church, 764 St. Charles Rd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. The Rominski family is requesting that everyone wear blue as it was Emily's favorite color.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of gifts and flowers that donations can be made to: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, where Emily attended camp with other children with Progeria: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Dr., New Haven, CT 06511 ( www.holeinthewallgang.org ) or a memorial fund in honor of Emily: Fundraiser for Emily Rominski by Theresa Ferguson: Emily's Tribe .
