Edward A.
Loss
June 13, 1926 – November 16, 2018
A young man of 17 came to America from the Polish/Russian border and met a beautiful young woman who was orphaned in Czechoslovakia during the war. After meeting one another, they fell in love and eventually wed. Together they raised two sons on the North side of Chicago, they named their youngest Edward Anthony Loss. Similarly, A beautiful young Italian girl Englisina Moretti came to America where she met and fell in love and eventually married Secondo Macaroni. They had 4 daughters, the oldest was named Caroline. 65 years ago Edward and Caroline met. She was a beautiful young girl from Melrose Park with two small children and Ed was a handsome single unmarried young man from the north side. They met... and yes fell in love. He was 28 and she was 24, and together they raised 6 children. Our Father was a fantastic athlete who participated in ice skating, barrel jumping, softball, baseball and competitive bowling, He loved to golf, fish, He was a genuine sports enthusiast. He was a loving son and brother, a loyal and honest friend, a great brother in law, and a kind and warm hearted son in law. He was a master carpenter for over 50 years. He was gentle in heart and unselfish to a fault, always willing and the first to lend a hand. His life revolved around our Mom, his children and grandchildren, as well as having a great love and joy in having us all over Sundays for pasta. He loved good music, nature, tending to his garden, his rose bushes, a good joke…how he loved to laugh, or just having a glass of wine and a stogie. Our fathers deep faith in Christ carried him through so many difficult times, losing his parents and his only brother, trying to make ends meet as a carpenter in the winter, feeding his children, all while keeping us safe and content. He was a man's man to all his son and daughters in law. They loved him because he welcomed them with open arms, and loved them like his own. He cherished us all and was a devoted husband all his life. He left his imprint on all of our hearts. He started a wonderful legacy to be passed on with all his children and grandchildren. He loved each one of us in a unique way that made you feel so special. He was so proud of all of us. I know our father is in heaven watching over all of us and I know when Jesus saw him he said "My good and faithful servant, in you I am well pleased"
He is the beloved husband of Caroline Loss, loving father of Michele (Fred) DeSantis, Joseph (Heather) Loss, Cindy (Terry) O'Connor, Karen (Joseph) Del Boccio, Julie (Rick) Betori, and Edward (Gail) Loss. He is also survived by grandchildren, Joe, Natalie, Stefanie (Tim), Nicholas, Anthony, Rick, Frank, Kevin, Brian, Michael, Joseph, James, Carly, and Luke, and great grandchild Lochlan.
