Douglas Grosvenor
Swift
October 19, 1967 – June 13, 2022
On June 13, 2022, Douglas Grosvenor Swift passed away from heart failure. Doug was born in Muncie, Indiana on October 19, 1967.
Doug's life and heartstrings were totally wrapped around his love for his wife, Anne Pohl, and his step-children, Finn and James Wall, affectionately known as Bear and Bug. Also under his loving, watchful eye, was his mother, Deb Swift, sister, Leslie Swift, and brother, Terry Swift. Doug's father, Steve Swift, passed away in 2001.
Doug was a high school athlete, with baseball as his most favorite, a voracious reader of history and a practicing lawyer. He was a fantastic soccer dad, terrific project supporter, proofreader, game player, and a completely supportive and attentive husband. Doug also was enriched by the wisdom of Charles M. Schultz's creation, Peanuts. He was a true lover of Snoopy and the gang. Doug was known to be a dog and cat wrangler when necessary.
Doug shared his love for music with his wife where they spent many evenings in conversation, sometimes until morning, while listening to their favorites of which there were many.
Doug graduated from Union High School in Modoc, Indiana, in 1986, Indiana University in 1990, and Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis in 1994. He practiced law in Winamac, Indiana before becoming a Public Defender in Charleston, South Carolina. Doug later became a Deputy Prosecutor in Hamilton County, Indiana, before his last work in the courts of Illinois near Wheaton where he resided at his passing.
Doug will be forever deeply, sorrowfully missed. Among those who will miss him dearly are the ones who called him Uncle Doug; Gabby and Grace Green; Ava, Julia, and Ryan Pohl, and Jacques Shorte. His own aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and worldwide friends will as well.
Our hearts are broken.
