IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald K.
"Donnie" Richardt
July 14, 1951 – August 8, 2020
Donald K. "Donnie" Richardt, age 69, a resident of Wheaton, died August 8, 2020. He was born July 14, 1951 in Aurora, Illinois to Walter & Dorothy Richardt.
Donnie was a hard-working, generous man who was ultimately worried about taking care of others rather than his bottom line. He was born a triplet in 1951 as the youngest of eight children. He graduated Glenbard West and lived most his life in or around Wheaton. After graduating high school, he worked as a mechanic at (West Town) a local shop in Wheaton. Once he found his trade, roofing, he fell in love and saw an opportunity to help others. He started working at Matthews Roofing where he perfected his craft for 15 years. He felt complete when he was able to open his own business "Richardt Roofing and Construction" which he ran and operated until today. His prices were always less than anyone else's, but he insisted they were fair.
Donnie wasn't all business, he had a love for music, Elvis, Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen, 57 Chevys, the Chicago Cubs and fishing oh, and coffee! He looked forward to the week each summer he went fishing with family and if you were a walleye, you better watch out! He had the best singing voice and his four girls were his backup singers. He was a family man and loved his daughters, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews more than anything.
His word was his bond and you could trust him on that. We will miss him more than anyone can imagine but he left behind lessons and common decency you won't find today. You were a true cowboy that cannot be replaced. Thank you, Dad, Grandpa Don, Uncle Donnie, Donnie, for fighting to live, despite many obstacles, and mostly, for showing us how to love and for loving all people with all your heart.
He is survived by his daughters: Tammy (Joe) Hott, Amy (Jason) Pessman, Megan Cavasini and Missy (Matt) Stefanik; his 13 grandchildren & great-grandchildren; his siblings: Joyce (the late Al) Stuart, Gordon Richardt, Audrey (the late Don) Redgate, and his triplet sister Diane (Glenn) Hencyk, and triplet brother David Richardt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his sister Connie (the late Bernie) Gallimore, his sister Carolyn (Jerry) Baum, and his parents.
