Don Pracht, age 86, a longtime resident of Wheaton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Brookdale Sr. Living in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He was born August 27, 1932 in Downers Grove to William and Lucille Pracht.

Don grew up in Downers Grove and graduated from Downers Grove High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force when he was 18 years old. He was stationed in Madison, WI at Truax Field, where he met Patricia Haugen. They were married on December 12, 1953.

He attended the Art Institute of Chicago. He had a distinguished career as a Creative Art Director in Chicago. He was awarded the prestigious Clio Award in 1979, while working at Marsteller Advertising Agency. His work included professional photography, television commercial director and illustrator. In his retirement years, he did freelance art and advertising.

Don was an artistic person who enjoyed creating beautiful works of art in various mediums including oils, pastels, watercolors, pencil as well as wood carving and furniture building. He enjoyed travel, his dogs, motorcycles, a good cigar, and especially being with family.

He is survived by his children, Michelle (Dennis) Holsteen of St. Charles, Linda (Dan) O'Reilly of Glen Ellyn, Mike (Becky) Pracht of Warrenville, Donna (Doug) Russell of Three Lakes, WI, Terri Pracht of Evergreen, CO, and Kathy (Adil) Jaffer of Geneva, 12 grandchildren, Heather, Hilary, Emily, Hannah, Mike, Jared, Adam, Brad, Bethany, Kelsey, Sabrina and Genel, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-sisters, Diane and Maddie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat in 2009, his parents, his step-mother, Dorothy and one brother, Dale.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 10 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
