David Edward Salstrom was born on Nov. 27, 1966, in Chicago, IL and passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 at his home in Geneva, IL.

David came into a family that served in the Philippines as missionaries. His first trip at seven months old was a long one… all the way from Chicago to Manila. He attended Faith Academy, a school for missionary children in the Manila area from Kindergarten to graduation from High School. Following that he returned to the U.S. and obtained his degree in communications from Judson University in Elgin, IL. After working in the food service industry in both Elgin, IL and Colorado Springs, CO, he spent a period of time as a flight attendant and returned to the restaurant business in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He used his skills for a time as an editor and writer for a magazine in Klamath Falls, OR. He then came back to IL and has been employed in this area for several years at various restaurants.

David was a friendly, creative, intelligent and generous individual, who was quick to help others in need. Our family took computer difficulties to him and he always found solutions. He enjoyed cooking, reading and watching the Chicago Cubs. He had a heart for animals, especially dogs, and loved little children. He also enjoyed music and had a pleasant sense of humor. He was dearly loved by his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera, and is survived by his father, David W., his sister, Rhesa, his aunt June, and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oak Brook Terrace at 11:00 A.M. Please meet in the parking lot, just inside the gates.
