Charles H.
Snyder
August 29, 1945 – December 5, 2023
Charles H. Snyder, age 78, a resident of Wheaton, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. He was born August 29, 1945 in Hammond, Indiana to J. Harold & Lois Snyder.
Chuck spent his youth in Hammond, Indiana in the 1950's, graduating from Hammond High School in 1963. From 1963-1967, he attended and graduated from Wheaton College. After his under-graduate studies, he went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Wenham, Massachusetts in 1970.
Chuck was a faithful believer of Jesus Christ, and was ordained a minister in the United Church of Christ in 1970. After relocating back to Wheaton, he served as the Minister of Evangelism at Wheaton Bible Church from 1973-1974. He also served in full-time ministry with Metro Chicago Youth for Christ from 1971-1972. In his later years, he attended both Wheaton Bible Church and Willow Creek Community Church.
He is best known in the Wheaton community as the go-to realtor for hundreds of families in the community. Over 45 years of service to Coldwell Banker Real Estate (previously Thorsen Realtors), he listed and sold hundreds of homes throughout the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area, and he helped many people settle in to the Wheaton community in just the right home.
In his leisure time, Chuck enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was a die-hard fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. He was also a big fan of his grandkids' teams and loved to spend the afternoon watching their exploits on the baseball field and basketball court. Chuck was known as "Popi" to his grandchildren, and they will miss his presence at their games and family events.
He is survived by his son, Bradley "Doc" (Lisa) Snyder; his step-daughters Kristin Aughnay & Erin (Bob) Pickrell; his grandchildren: Jacob, Abby, Caleb & Zachary Snyder; Stefanie, Annie & Luke Sezonov; and Cassidy Pickrell, Kylie (A.J.) Cole & Payton Aughnay. Also survived by his sister Donna (the late David) Dreier, his brother-in-law Gene Mastin, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha; his sister Diane Mastin; and his step-son Peter Aughnay.
