Curtis Taylor, age 92, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois passed in his sleep on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Curt was born on November 26, 1924, at his home in Nancy, Kentucky, the third child of four for Esmer and Lela Taylor.

During his childhood, Curt's parents moved the family to Mt Zion, Illinois where Curt grew up and graduated from Mt Zion High School.  Curt loved the Mt Zion/Decatur area and told his grandson, Jack, that "it provided almost everything that a boy could want". Right after graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and became a Radio Operator - High Speed 766.  He was stationed in New Guinea, the South Philippines and Luzon.  He was an advance enemy observer going out behind enemy lines to radio back troop positions.

After his service, he attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950.  He worked for High Flyer Kite Company and married Marilyn J. Andrews on November 19, 1955.  He was active in the Ancient free & Accepted Masons of Illinois and the Kiwanis club.

While Curt and Marilyn raised their family, Curt worked as a controller/accountant for several companies located throughout the Midwest. His employment and focus on his family's needs occupied most of his time; and even in retirement, he continued his dedication to his family by providing childcare for his granddaughters and caregiving for his spouse, Marilyn.

On June 3, 2015, Curt had the privilege of participating in the Honor Flight Chicago program which honors veterans by flying them to Washington, DC to visit the war memorials and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.  Curt and his family are grateful for the assistance of his guardian, Cheryl Kinczyk, who made the entire trip possible and adding to the celebration was a surprise visit by Curt's granddaughter, Jackie.  In July of 2015, he was also honored as a group of local veterans kicked off the Fourth of July parade in Glen Ellyn and were chauffeured down the parade route lined by cheering onlookers.

Curt leaves behind his loved ones including Marilyn, his wife of 61 years; son Brian Taylor; daughter Diane Roeing; and grandchildren Jaclyn, Elaina, Kathleen, Jack, Mark and William.

A committal service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery , 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421, Monday, April 10th, 2017 at 10:30 am.
