Mary "Kay" Smith, age 78, a resident of Warrenville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Illinois surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 31,1938 in Peoria, Illinois and was adopted by her loving parents Harvey and Gladys Sheppard on October 15,1939. Kay graduated from Roberts Thawville High School and attended Northern Illinois College. She married Terrence E. Smith on July 20,1963.

Kay enjoyed raising her two daughters and spending time with her family. She loved to travel, read, play and watch sports. One of her favorite hobbies was boating with her family and friends at Starved Rock Yacht Club for 53 years.

Kay is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Terry Smith of Warrenville; her daughters, Dawn Rolison of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and her children Khendel and Ella Rolison, and Kristie (Steve) Szejner of Elmhurst, Illinois and their children Samantha and Kyle.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, in Wheaton, Illinois, where a funeral service will also be held on Friday, January 6th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, Illinois.
