Forrest R. Tucker, age 78, a resident of West Chicago, IL, formerly of Alexandria, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 12, 2016. He was born August 9, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to James and June Tucker.
"Woody" enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a total of 12 years. While stationed at Washington D.C. he met Herta Tauss at a U.S.O. dance and they were married August 16, 1959. He went to work for General Motors in Columbus, Ohio. They moved to Alexandria where he eventually worked for the Department of the Navy as a project manager. He retired in 2001 and moved to Orlando, Florida. He loved photography, reading, history, military history, visiting historical sights especially civil war history. He had the ability to build or fix anything. He loved to work with his hands and created many woodworking pieces. As recently as this last month, he made bookends in the woodworking shop at the Dupage Convalescent Center and won an award for them. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved animals and his dogs. His concern for others led him to give and serve in numerous ways.
He is survived by his wife, Herta, his daughter, Heidi (Charles) Stone of West Chicago, two granddaughters, Jenny (Dave) Schardt of Henrico, Virginia and Katy Stone and one sister, Kitty Brady of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
