He first met his wife, Dorothy Rippon Marr, while lifeguarding for the summer after high school. Edward and Dorothy were married on June 2, 1973 in Silver Spring, MD. They were married for 43 years.

He went on to work at Giant Food as a fork lift operator. He enrolled and graduated from Maryland Drafting Institute in 1977, moving on to perform as a draftsman for Ord-Marine Engineering. In 1980, he and his family moved to the Pacific Northwest where he worked for M. Rosenblatt Co., a Naval contracting company in Bremerton, WA. Following this, Edward worked for Boeing Company as a technical illustrator for 18 years.

He had a passion for model trains and through the years had assembled quite a collection of HO Model trains. He also had a passion for baseball and football. He was motivated at a young age by his grandpa, Lee Jordan, who inspired many children to participate in youth sports. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Marr and Deloise Marr, as well as his sister, Roslyn Marr.
