Margaret A. Walker, age 67, a resident of Palatine, and formerly of River Forest, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13. She was born December 28, 1948 in Warsaw, Indian to John and Nellie Harper.
Margaret graduated from Glenbard East High School in 1967. She attended Emmaus Bible School and then graduated from the University of IL at Chicago School of Nursing. As an R.N. she worked at Belmont Hospital, West Suburban Hospital and Resthaven Homes in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She met John Walker, the love of her life, at River Forest Bible Chapel and they were married on October 8, 1994.
She fellowshiped at Lombard Gospel Chapel. She enjoyed writing letters of encouragement and doing cross stitch. She delighted in wordplay and puns and especially enjoyed playing Scrabble. When asked how she was, her signature response was "Blessed." She greatly enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Walker, six siblings, Dorothy (Ken) Bylsma of Lombard, David (Karyl Lynn) Harper of Imler, PA, John Harper of Carol Stream, Jim (Kathleen) Harper of Cumberland, Maine, Daniel (Valeri) Harper of San Francisco, CA and Carol (Curt) Bakker of La Grand, OR, thirteen nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews and her step-mother, Mary Ann Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 16, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 N. Stewart Ave., Lombard, IL 60148, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake, Illinois.
