Myrtle Christine Amundson, age 94, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, IL, and formerly of Wheaton, IL, died Wednesday, April 8, at Windsor's Johnson Health Care Center. She was born November 6,1914 in Western Springs, IL.
Myrtle worked as a legal secretary in Chicago, IL. She was a long time member of Moody Memorial Church in Chicago, and later of the Glen Ellyn Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute's night school studying Christian Education. She taught Tiny Tots, Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School through many years of church involvement. She was active with the Wheaton, IL Sister City Commission involving Karlstoga, Sweden, as well as the Wheaton Historical Society. Myrtle loved entertaining international students.
She is survived by her two daughters, Myrtle La Vern Amundson of Orlando, FL, Esther Amundson of Montgomery, IL. and nephew George Brohlin and his family of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her loving and gentle husband, Vernon O. Amundson in 1985; her parents, Andrew and Christine (nee Anderson) Brohlin; her brothers, Kermit Brohlin in 1999, and Edsel Brohlin in
1944 in Italy during WWII. She was also preceded in death by a twin brother and sister who died in infancy.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, at 10:00 A.M. at the chapel at Windsor Park Manor, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream, IL. Interment will be private at Wheaton Cemetery.
