Jean Elizabeth Johnson, age 94, of Wheaton, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2015. She was born in Aurora, IL on April 14, 1920, to parents, Frank and Mary Perrin.
Jean's mother's family immigrated from Kerrimier, Scotland, in 1886. Her father's family were early settlers in Wyanet, IL. Their lineage traces to Sturbridge, MA in colonial times. Jean was educated in the Aurora Public Schools from kindergarten through high school and attended North Central College in Naperville, IL. Her avid interests included playing the violin, gardening and baking, in which she was known for specializing in angel food cake and homemade fudge. On July 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Laurence Johnson in her parents home in Aurora. Jean's fondest memory was the surprise 50th wedding anniversary hosted by her family in July 1993 with a ride to the party in a Model T Ford and a Scottish bagpipper greeting them. Laurence and Jean were married for 59 years and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary at the Mill Race Inn located in Geneva, IL. She enjoyed being a housewife, raising her family and attending church.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan Johnson of Wheaton, IL; her son, Stephen Johnson of Hope Valley, RI; her grandchildren, Laura Johnson of Naperville, IL; Sarah Johnson and Matthew Johnson who live on the east coast; and her great-granddaughter Aubrie Johnson of Naperville, IL; several loving nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Laurence in 2003; her parents; an infant brother, Frank Jr.; and her sisters, Edith Spacie and Margaret Smith. Special thanks to Lina Guido, her loving caregiver; and Dr. Paul Chiang from Physicians at Home.
