John Henry Swierenga of Wheaton, Illinois, age 65, passed away at 12:47 pm on December 27, 2014 at his home. He was born to John Henry and Henrietta "Etta" (Bakker) Swierenga on October 27, 1949 in Elgin, Illinois.

He grew up on a farm in Lombard, Illinois. He was a driver for Lombard Disposal and then for Waste Management when Lombard Disposal was bought out by Waste Management. John retired from Waste Management on September 1, 2012 after 44 years.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Garvin nee Parris), daughters Stefanie Van Spankeren (Brian) of Westmont, Illinois and Melissa Swierenga of Wheaton, Illinois, his sister Mary Ellen Berg (Ralph) of Elmhurst, Illinois and his brother Gary (Karla) of Westmont, Illinois, ex-wife Jane Binkis, and many nieces, nephews, a dear aunt, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Henrietta Swierenga.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, Illinois 60189 with a memorial service following the visitation at 7 pm.
