Obituary
John L. Karalus, age 80, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at home in Glen Ellyn, IL. He was born December 17, 1933 in Chicago, IL.
John worked for the Rexam Company as a machinist. He was an active volunteer with Awana Ministries at every local church he attended. He enjoyed using his creative talents doing poetry, painting and wood carving. He loved hunting and fishing and collecting and studying butterflies.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cisa Karalus; five children, Allison Karalus of Glen Ellyn, John Karalus, also of Glen Ellyn, Kathleen (Russ) Evers of Wheaton, IL, James (Jill) Karalus of Chicago, IL, and Karalyn (David) Voelkner of Elk Grove Village, IL; seven grandchildren, McKenzie, Elaina, Gavin and Callahan Evers, Chase and Liam Voelkner, and Myles Karalus; and two sisters, Margaret Weart, and Barbara Leverich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Helen; his brothers, Karl Jr., and Robert; and his sister, Dolores Dubinski.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 4-8 p.m., ending in a time of reflection and sharing to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 27W010 Parkway Dr, in Winfield, IL. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the family.
