Obituary

Curtis Jones, age 79, a resident of Glen Ellyn, died Thursday, May 15 at the Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born on June 18, 1928 in Aberdeen, MS to Robert Lee and Mattie Jones.

Curtis was a veteran of the US Army. He worked 30 years at Turco Products and ended his career as Assitant Plant Manager in Rockdale Illinois, 3 years with Precision Brand Products in Downers Grove as the Plant Manager, and 9 years at Walton March in Highland Park as a Traffic Manager. Curtis and his wife Carolyn made their home in Joliet Illinois from 1951 to 1976. They have lived in Glen Ellyn Since 1976.

Curtis met the love of his life in high school and married Carolyn in 1951. They were married for 56 years. He was a beloved husband, loving father, and true and loyal friend to many. He loved nature and the outdoors, hunting, golfing, and loved getting together with his friends. Curtis was an active member of the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, where he was a member of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Carolyn Jones, three children, Michael Curtis (Janey) Jones of Joliet, IL, Tina Carole (Brian) Stout of Colarodo Springs, CO and Joseph Edward (Nancy) Jones of DeKalb, IL 8 grandchildren, Ami, Aaron (Lyn), Kevin (Jennifer), Jeannine (Garrett), Megan (Jon), Amy, Eric and Lesley, 1 great granddaughter, Taylor Marie, and sisters Mary Lee Tierman and Elizabeth Wilkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and Sisters Mary Jane Murphy and Mabel Franks.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 19 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton, where a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. Friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be directed to the Benevolent Fund of the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church or the Mayo Clinic Donation Dept., Cancer Research, 200 First St. SW., Rochester, MN 55905-9817.
