Lorraine Anderson, 80, a resident of the Wheaton area, died March 13, 2008 at the Adventist Glenoaks Hospital in Glendale Heights. She was born on May 2, 1927 in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
She is survived by sons: Gary Werner of Greenville, TX, Bruce (Jody) Anderson of Wheaton, IL and daughters: Trudy Anderson of Lockport, IL and Nancy Anderson of Greenville, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren: Alexandra Werner of Seattle, WA, and Jeremy, Jeffery, Eric and Mark Anderson of Wheaton, IL and her brother, James Johnson of Two Rivers, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew Johnson (Anna Koslowsky), two sisters, Alvina Novak and Beatrice Gajafsky, and her brother Clarence Karban.
She enjoyed painting, ceramics and other crafts and made some great gingerbread cookies at Christmas time. She was an excellent seamstress and loved the competition of puzzles, card and word games.
She made common baking into a fine art, experimenting on her husband and children with fascinating and even sometimes edible desserts. She loved the outdoors at Sand Bay and Long Lake during the summertime, and camping and canoeing in the wilds of northern Wisconsin. She was also very supportive of her children and grandchildren's pursuit of music, vocal and instrumental.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
