Ruth Harriet Hilsabeck Jackson passed away on Tuesday March 4th at the age of 89. Born in Windsor, Illinois on Aug. 22, 1918, she graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939 with a B.S. in Accountancy. She moved to Wheaton with her husband in 1940 and lived there for the remainder of her life. Ruth has been an active member of Gary United Methodist Church since 1941 and a long-time member and past president of the Women's Department Club of Wheaton.
Ruth was an active member in the Order of Eastern Star Wheaton Chapter #506 for over 50 years. During her years with Eastern Star she served in many capacities including Worthy Matron, Grand Lecturer and State Treasurer. She also belonged to the Wheaton Women's Republican Club and the Perrin Wheaton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to her civic and charitable activities, Ruth worked as an accountant for several companies after raising her children.
Preceded in death by her husband, William Reid Jackson, she is survived by daughter, Virginia Jackson Claar (Collierville, TN), son, James Russell Jackson (Cape Cod, MA), grandchildren, Kristin Lynn Claar French (Blaine, WA), Christopher Alan Jackson (Chicago, IL), Kimberly Ann Claar (Hebron, KY) and great-granddaughter, Claar Ruth French (Blaine, WA).
Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where a service will be conducted by the Eastern Star at 7 p.m. A funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
