Richard A. Schuler's Obituary

Richard A. "Dick" Schuler, 75, of Winfield, died December 1st at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 30, 1932 in Millersburg, Michigan.

Dick was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he met his wife Carol, and Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti where he earned a degree in education. He then served with Greater Europe Mission in France for 35 years as a church planter and camp director, retiring in 1999. Thereafter, he was interim pastor at Shadyrest Bible Church in Chesterfield, New Jersey, spent a couple of years in Chesapeake, Virginia, before moving to Winfield, Illinois to be near family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol, nee Scheid; his sisters, Muriel Russell, Marilyn (Larry) Riley, and Yvonne (Donald) Baker; his children, Rick (Carla) Schuler, Janet (Venkat) Tangirala, Keith (Laura) Schuler, David (Ann) Schuler, Susie (Thierry) Labbe; his grandchildren, Ian and Aubin Schuler, Melody and Donovan Shickley, Anjali Tangirala, Kaylynn and Victoria Schuler, Nikeata Schuler, David, Marie, Priscille, Jessica and Talia Labbe.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Judith Mary Schuler; his parents, Lee F. and Marion A. Schuler; his brothers, Lloyd, Robert and Barry Schuler; and his sister, Deanna Harroun.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, from 3-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, at 10:00 A.M. at Community Fellowship Church, 28W240 North Ave., in West Chicago. Interment will follow at Bartlett Cemetery.
