Howard A. Grupe's Obituary
Howard A. Grupe, age 88, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born June 14, 1922 in Chicago, IL.
He was a graduate of Lane Technical High School in Chicago, Class of '40. He was a licensed cosmetologist and he and his wife, Marion, owned a Beauty Shop in Wheaton for over 50 years. He was on the Wheaton Environmental Commission for 33 years. He was a member of the Illinois Railway Museum.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 63 years, Marion; his daughter, Gay R. Grupe of Wheaton; his son, Tracy A. (Durell Shellhamer) Grupe of Breinigsville, PA; and his sister, Elaine Ahlgrim.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Pardell.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 3-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to The Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090-6231; or to West Suburban Humane Society, 1901 Ogden Avenue, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
