Zenny Chu Tan, age 71, of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois after a courageous battle with stage-4 endometrial cancer.

Zenny was born December 28, 1945 in Sta. Rita, Pampanga, Philippines to Marcela and Aguedo Chu on December 28, 1945. She attended high school at Sta. Rita Institute and graduated in 1962. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Accounting from Guagua National College and worked at the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company for a few years before embarking to the United States with her husband in May of 1973.

Zenny was a woman of many talents, with a passion for cooking everything from traditional Filipino food to all different types of international and American cuisines, often using her own fresh organic fruits and vegetables from her garden. She was a true homemaker, sewing custom draperies for her homes as well as her children's houses. She had a beautiful voice and would often be heard singing oldies tunes and humming the lyrics to pop songs of her children's generation.

Zenny had a strong Catholic faith attending mass every week at St. Daniel and instilling this same faith in both her children. She had a love for travel, going on adventures to exotic places like Punta Cana, Hawaii, and the Dominican Republic with her family and friends.

Zenny is survived by her husband: Edgar; her daughter: Sherry; her son: Oliver; three brothers: Andy, Edgar and Aguedo Junior; and her three sisters: Adoracion, Renee, and Elizabeth.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, January 4, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. A funeral Mass will be follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church , 101 W. Loop Road, in Wheaton, IL. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
