A loving son, brother and friend, Yosef Yemane Gidey was born on August 14, 1990. He was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord on March 11, 2024 and continues to live through the lives of his family and friends.

Yosef graduated from Wheaton North High School in 2008 and followed his father's footsteps in supporting the family auto shop, GF Auto Repair. His warm smile and welcoming demeanor greeted customers and friends alike. His commitment to the shop was more than just a job; it was a reflection of his dedication to fostering a sense of community. And so, he quickly developed a commitment to actively promote and patronize other small businesses in the community.

A true protector at heart, Yosef is known for his unwavering support and defense of his family and friends. He is the first to lend a helping hand, the first to offer a shoulder to lean on, and the first to stand up for those he cared for. His inclusive nature knew no bounds, as he welcomed everyone with open arms, often striking up conversations with strangers that often became friends.

Yosef had a special gift for lighting up any room he walked into. His infectious laughter and genuine interest in others made him the life of any party and a joy to be around. He thrived on connecting with people, forging deep and meaningful relationships that will transcend his time in this world.

He is survived by his parents, Yemane & Asmeret Ghdey; his siblings Yodit, Yordanos, Yonathon, Yohannes & Yohana; his nieces Isabella & Olivia & nephew, Aaron.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Debre Mihret St. Michael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Wheaton, 205 Parkway Dr., Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael Cemetery, 1109 Warrenville Road Wheaton, Illinois 60187.
