William R. "Bill" Wooten, age 64, a resident of Hanover Park, IL, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born October 15, 1952 in Jellico, TN.
He grew up in the hills of Tennessee in a loving home. During the Vietnam War, Bill proudly served in the Navy. For over 40 years, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and supervisor. During his career, he made many friends due to his kindness and humor. He bravely battled cancer for 13 years.
A lover of nature and the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, especially with his children. Bill was also known for his calm nature, jokes, and storytelling.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn; three children, William (Anni Braverman), Matthew (Alex) and Amy (Laurie Barker) Wooten; five grandchildren, Lillian, William, Elizabeth, Emily and Michael; and his brother, Denny (Mary) Wooten.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Barbara "Jo" Wooten.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
