William S. Winchell, age 79, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Saturday, December 16 at the Central Du Page Hospital. He was born on July 25, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio.
On June 10, 1950 he married Edna Green in Woburn, MA. Bill served in the Signal Corps of the US Army from 1949 to 1951. He graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN. Together with his wife they served as missionaries in South Korea with TEAM. They also served in Taiwan and in Aruba, Dutch Caribbean. He was a longtime member of the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, daughter, Karen (Phil) DuBert of Mozambique, Africa, two sons Richard (Jan) Winchell of Rochester, NY, and Allan (Brenda) Winchell of Pottsville, AR, 7 grandchildren, Chad, Heather, Todd, Tyler, Andy, Luke, and Isabel.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Winchell.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton.
A private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet.
