William "Bill" Thomas, age 93, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on September 20, 2024.  He was born July 30, 1931,  in Chicago. IL.

William grew up in the city and served as an altar boy at Our Lady of Victory in Chicago. He attended Carl Schurz High School until he moved to Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton Community High School. William first served in the Naval Reserve and later in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. When he returned, he married Mary Jane Harkrider in 1956 at St. Michael's Church in Wheaton. He worked at Illinois Bell for thirty years as a cable splicer and later as a systems analyst. After retirement, Bill and Mary Jane moved to Michigan and enjoyed life on Lake Cora. Later they moved to Estero, Florida and became active in the tennis community. Bill was a jack of all trades, excelling in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and automotive repair. His children learned so much working side by side with him.

His loves included dogs, cars (buying, selling, and negotiating), real estate, boats, ping pong, bowling, music, dancing and tennis. He and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling to warmer climates and hosting family.

He is survived by his children Michael (Marion) Thomas & Laura (Robert, Jr.) Barron; his grandchildren Lisa Thomas, Michelle (Sean) Henderson, Elyse (Jeff) Barron-Puetz, and Heather (Josh) Armstrong; great grandsons, Ronin Barron-Puetz and Emric Armstrong; and sister, Susan Cervenka.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane "M.J."; brother Robert Thomas; and his twin great grandsons Gavin & Liam Barron-Puetz.

A visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187 from 12:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Interment will be held privately.
