Obituary

William "Bill" Swale, age 87, a resident of Warrenville, IL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1930 in Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire, England to Earnest and Hannah Swale.

Bill grew up in England and lived through the bombings of WWII. He served in the British military during the war. In 1950 he immigrated to the United States. Soon after arriving, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After serving, he married Lillian Mary O'Brian on June 12, 1954. On August 24, 1954, he became a citizen of the United States. He worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 134 for many years and retired in 1992.

His Christian faith was central to his life and he was very involved in church life at First Baptist Church of Villa Park and in recent years at Community Fellowship in West Chicago. He had a servants heart and was quick to help others. He volunteered at Edward Hospital for 17 years. He also had a passion for young people and served as a captain with the Christian Service Brigade.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, three children, James W. (Terry) Swale, John (Julia) Swale, and Dr. Jerome (Elizabeth) Swale, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan and brothers, Sydney
and Geoffrey.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Community Fellowship Church, 28W240 North Avenue West Chicago IL 60185. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
