William O. Servatius, age 97, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Friday, January 11, 2019, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. He was born August 5, 1921 in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin.

Bill moved to Wheaton when he was five years old and attended St. Michael School. During WWII, he joined the Army and served in the Army Air Corps in Italy. After his service he married Gladys Nachtigall, who lived just a block from him in Wheaton. He began his career at Ovaltine and then worked for Northern Illinois Gas for over 25 years. In retirement he and Gladys moved to Benton, Kentucky.

He enjoyed putzing around the house and he could fix anything. Most important was family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three children, Nanette (Peter) Behrns of Woodstock, Marcia (Bob) Hartmann of Aurora and David (Linda) Servatius of Lombard, thirteen grandchildren, Peter Behrns Jr., Heather Johnson, Corey (Jessica) Behrns, Casey Johnson, Andrew (Telina) Behrns, Bill (Leslie) Behrns, Stefanie Johnson, Katrina Servatius, David Servatius Jr., Zachary Behrns, Eric Servatius, Dalton Servatius, and Kathryn Behrns, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 2010.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Private interment and military honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
