IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William James
Morrissey
March 21, 2004 – November 9, 2022
William James Morrissey, age 18, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died suddenly on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, while conducting training exercises with the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton in California. He was born March 21, 2004, in Downers Grove to David and Rachel Morrissey.
Will gifted us with his insatiable curiosity, tender heart and broad smile. He was engaging and easily approached others as he loved hearing and sharing stories from all people young and old. Throughout his too-short life, he had an enthusiastic interest in military history, trains, art, technology and nature. Among his peers, he also had enviable shoe game. Will ran four years of cross country at Wheaton North High School where he developed close friendships with his fellow runners. He reluctantly played bass in the Franklin Middle School and Wheaton North orchestra (freshman year) to the delight of his parents. Will had a love for travel and spending time with his extended family, especially summers with his cousins at the cabin on Lake Superior, and visiting his UK family spread across England, Wales and Ireland. Will graduated from Wheaton North High School in 2022. Becoming a United States Marine in September 2022 fulfilled a lifelong dream and was one of Will's proudest moments.
He is survived by his parents, David and Rachel of Wheaton, his brother, Jack, grandparents Anna Marie "Mim" and Thomas Warren of Beloit, Wisconsin, grandmother Ann Morrissey of Broadstairs, England, and Uncle Paul (Anthea) Morrissey of Deal, England. He was preceded in death by grandfather Michael Morrissey. His dog, Remi, will also miss him in addition to his family of aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the United States and England, and many friends.
