IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Mclellan
January 4, 1932 – February 1, 2023
After courageous daily living in hospice for nearly a year, William (Bill) McLellan, age 91, a resident of Phoenix AZ, previously of Wheaton, Ill. passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2023 in Phoenix. Bill was born January 4, 1932 to William & Helen McLellan of Conway New Hampshire.
Bill was a proud Korean War Veteran who served with great pride. His patriotism and love of this country was evident as he enjoyed celebrating the July 4 parades and attending Memorial Day remembrances in Wheaton with his family.
During his marriage to JoAnn, they enjoyed travelling to visit their children and grandchildren and owning an antique booth in Wheaton. They especially enjoyed spending time with their local family in the Chicago suburbs by celebrating local festivals, the Indianapolis 500 and game nights.
In recent years as mobility became a challenge, Bill was able to enjoy special unique trips to visit family with the assistance of Southwest Airlines and even attended a University of Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa Alabama with daughter Susan.
Bill loved reading. The number of books that he would read including from the local library was notorious. If there was an Olympic competition for reading in the Senior citizen community, he would have achieved the Gold medal.
Bill was very proud of his four (4) grandchildren who were a frequent source of pride and chatter with other residents of the care facility this past year. His formative years growing up in New Hampshire, the family trips to see his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and the beautiful mountainous landscape brought him peace and great joy in difficult times.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan J McLellan of Phoenix AZ and two sons, Scott (Chris) McLellan of Hollywood MD and Mark (Sharon) McLellan of Winchester VA; four grandchildren, Ian McLellan, Ethan McLellan, Sean McLellan, Bridget McLellan and many nephews and nieces. Bill is also survived by his loving brother Hugh (Jackie) McLellan of Boca Raton FL and caring sister Connie (Bill) Cosner of Conway SC. The love and support of his brother & sister in 2022 was critical to Bill's positive attitude throughout a difficult 2022.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn in 2009 and brother Blaine and sisters, Ruth & Sandy.
