William P. "Bill" McGovern, age 62, a resident of Bartlett, IL, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at home. He was born August 14, 1950 in Chicago, IL.

Barb and Bill grew up in Wheaton and then moved to Bartlett where they've lived for 35 years. He loved having family parties, doting on his grandchildren, vacationing, fishing and playing golf as much as possible. "Work hard, play hard" was the motto he lived by. He will be deeply missed by friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara; his two children, Shaun (Amanda) of Elgin, IL, Kelly (Rodney) Clifton of Elgin, IL; four grandchildren, Lyla and Landon Clifton, and Kenley and Ivy McGovern; his brother, Walter (Melissa) McGovern of Yorkville, IL; and three sisters, Pat Martin, Pam (Will) Bales and Paulette (Don) Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy McGovern.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
