IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William J.
Lietzow Jr.
March 25, 1959 – June 29, 2023
William J. Lietzow Jr., age 64, a resident of Winfield, IL, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 29, 2023. He was born March 25, 1959, in Kenosha, Wisconsin to William and Beverly Lietzow. The Lietzow family moved back to Chicago in 1964 where Bill, also known as "Georgie," grew up running around the neighborhood with his big 'protector' sister, Cheryl ("Minnie"). He attended Roosevelt High School, joined the military in 1984 and served for 4 years. After the military, he spent his time watching Disney movies and playing with his nieces, Lisa and Lexi. At work in 1987, Bill met Joyce and her young children, Chris and Amanda. They married on July 4th, 1997. In February 2000 they welcomed William Joseph Lietzow III, "Billy."
Bill loved to spend time with his family hunting, fishing, playing catch with Billy, going on family vacations, driving across the country, and he especially loved watching Billy play baseball all the way into college. He enjoyed listening to music, Elvis being one of his favorites, grilling, watching the Cubs, and taking care of his house (and everyone else's in the family too). He was the family's fix-it guy and teacher of many things. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his dog babies, Lola and Diamond, and his grandchildren, Stevie and Melody (Parents Amanda and Steve Edmunds). Bill was always proud of his family and was happiest when he was with them.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lietzow, his children, Billy Lietzow, Amanda (Steve) Edmunds, Chris (Kristen) Groppi, 3 grandchildren, his sister Cheryl "Minnie" (Art) Sotelo, and nieces Lisa and Lexi Sotelo. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beverly Lietzow and oldest sister.
