Obituary

William "Bill" Johnson, age 84, a resident of Belmont Village in Carol Stream, IL, formerly of Naperville, IL and retired to Sun City Center, FL, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at home. He was born March 1, 1931 in New Castle, IN.

He proudly served in the Marines as a Radio Operator following the Korean War. After completing his service he attended Indiana University, while working full-time and raising three young children. He worked for many years in finance management at Midland Guardian in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bill retired in 1991, from being a Vice President at Harris Bank. Throughout the years Bill was an active member of the Catholic Church. He lectured and taught religious education at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cincinnati, OH. He was an avid tennis player in his youth, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved playing golf. Bill's love for the game continued in to retirement as him and his wife, Josephine, retired to a Florida golf community in 1992. Bill was a joyful and loving family man.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine; five children, Debbie Johnson, Pam (Dave) Burbrink, Melinda Johnson, Jana (Mark) Blaschak and John (Kelly) Johnson; nine grandchildren, Brian (Carolyn) and Brad, Cindy and Mark, Nick, Brittany and Karly, and Jacob and Jeremy; one great-grandson, Tobin William; two sisters, Kay (Harry) Newton, and Ann (Jim) Fitzgerald; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary Johnson; his daughter, Terri Sanderson; and his sister, Lois Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Prayers will be said the next morning (Tuesday) at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow prayers at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church , 300 E. Cole Drive, in Wheaton, IL. Interment is private.
