William Olu Faux, age 60, a resident of Elgin, IL, formerly of Glen Ellyn, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at home. He was born August 4, 1953 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Africa.
Bill came to the United States as a college student and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. His passion for music led him to work in the retail music industry for many years. His most current position was at American Mattress as store manager at various suburban Chicago locations where he made many friends. For the last three years he fought a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He was an avid fan of Chicago basketball and football and was known to express his excitement and love of the game loudly.
He is survived by his daughter, Sara Faux of Glendale Heights, step son, Eric Wagenblast of Wheaton, his longtime partner, Joi Wagenblast of Wheaton, and brothers and sisters in Europe and Africa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 26, from 1 until 3 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL, where a service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Assumption Cemetery.
