William E. "Bill" Rehr, age 71, a resident of Wheaton, IL, entered into glory on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born August 30, 1946 in Oak Park, IL.
After graduating from Elmhurst College, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years on the USS Midway CV41 as a Quarter Master 3rd Class and valued reservist. Honorably discharged Bill met and married his lovely wife Paula. Following his dream he spent the next 27 years with the Wheaton Fire Department serving as a fireman, Assistant Building Director, and Fire Marshall for the City. Senior Developer of Codes and Standards for the International Code Council for a total of 18 years, Bill retired early due to illness. A devoted father of four, Bill cherished his children and shared his deep faith and love of Christ with them. A longtime member of Naperville Presbyterian Church, Bill was an usher, choir member, and faithful believer. Quick witted, gentle and a kind hearted man, Bill was devoted to his family especially his grandchildren which brought him much joy. He was a member of various groups such as the DuPage History Society, Patriots Fife & Drum Core, and various genealogy societies.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Paula; his four children, Colleen (Allen) Mroz, Rebecca (Michael) Agate, Amanda (Jonathan) Parsons and William (Glenda) Rehr; and three grandchildren, Kaila Mroz, Desmond and Ruby Lou Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Thelma Rehr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at
Naperville Presbyterian Church
, 943 Sanctuary Lane, in Naperville, IL where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at
Wheaton Cemetery
