Wilbur D. Powell, age 89, a resident of Warrenville, IL, and formerly of Villa Park, IL, died October 12, 2010, at the Pineview Care Center in St. Charles, IL. He was born December 21, 1920, in Beaver Falls, PA.
Wilbur served in the Army during World War II as a Radio Operator in the Philippines where he earned a Purple Heart. After the war he entered the television industry as a cameraman and retired after 38 years as a video engineer with NBC-Chicago. He enjoyed walking, classical music and jazz.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; his daughter, Becky Allen-Powell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, David.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a funeral service to be held at 6:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will be private at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
