Wesley L. Poor's Obituary
Wesley L. Poor, age 76, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, IL, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at home. He was born April 15, 1936 in Melrose Park, IL.
Wes graduated from Bensenville Community High School in 1954. He grew up in Bensenville and eventually raised his own family there. After high school, he served four years in the Navy. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Elmhurst College in 1962. He earned a Master's Degree from Concordia University in Educational Administration. He taught second grade at Tioga School in Bensenville for 27 years. He very much enjoyed the activities and people at Windsor Park Retirement Community. He was an ardent old-time radio fan.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Poor; two children, Robert (Santina) Poor of San Diego, CA, and Becky (Cameron) Lapp of Plainfield, IL; five grandchildren, Lewis, Charley and MJ Poor, and Jackson and Griffin Lapp; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr., in Carol Stream, IL. Interment will be private at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to College Church Missions Fund, 332 E. Seminary Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187.
