Warren W. Hopeman, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, died suddenly on Friday, December 6. He was born May 29, 1923 in Hingham, Wisconsin to Elmer and Alice Hopeman.
Warren was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin where he worked with his father until the age of 35. He married Mae Ann Coates in 1946. They moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1959 where he practiced insurance and real estate. In 1969, he and his family served as short term missionaries in Pakistan for two years. Upon return they moved to the Wheaton area where he worked for The Evangelical Alliance Mission until his retirement. Mae Ann died in 2002. Three years later he married Peg Penney.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Wheaton. His faith was the motivation for his entire life. He served in many ministries including, Koinenea House, Evangelical Child and Family Agency, and others. He enjoyed being active and loved bowling, tennis, ping-pong, and cycling.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Peg, daughters; Lynn Hopeman (Richard Spencer) and Rachel (Tim) Tefft; sons, Tim (Gail) Hopeman and Steve(Charlene) Hopeman, grandchildren; Evie and Michael Vohlken, Rhonda, Rebecca, Krista, and Scott Hopeman; Bethany and Emily Hopeman; Joshua, Sarah, Jacob, Jonathan Evans and Charis Tefft, 14 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Viola Dolfin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mae Ann Hopeman and one sister, Mary Dirkse.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wheaton, where a funeral will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Rowe officiating.
