Obituary

Wanda S. DuBose, 86, a resident for the past 17 years of Windsor Park Manor died April 29th. She was born August 7, 1919 in Marion, Illinois to Norvel and Verna Shreve.

Wanda attended Washington University in St. Louis where she graduated with a degree in nursing. She worked for Barnes Hospital for a short time until joining the Army during WWII in 1943. She served in Alaska at Ft. Richardson and on the island of Attu. After returning to the United States she married Lt. Lawrence DuBose in 1946. Together they lived in Lombard for 31 years and moved to Windsor Park Manor in 1989. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Lombard, AAUW, and was secretary of the Coverlet Guild. She volunteered at the Du Page Convalescent Center in Wheaton and enjoyed weaving and art work.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Lawrence DuBose, five children, Allen (Linda) of Carol Stream, Charles (Susan) of Wheaton, Jane (William) Kindorf of Wheaton, Jean (David) Cornelius of Carol Stream, and James (Jane) of Rochester, Illinois, and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Allen, who was killed during WWII.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2 from 2 until 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Windsor Park Manor, 120 Windsor Park Dr, in Carol Stream (just west of Gary Ave. at North Ave.).

Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Lombard, or Windsor Park Manor/Johnson Healthcare Expansion Fund.
